We spent our morning at the school mapping our campus and talking about how we envision creating the spaces. It was great to explore all of the spaces available to us.
Our adventure for the week took us to the Recycling and Transfer Station (aka BuRRT) for the afternoon. Lisa Merrell gave us an informative and eye opening tour of all aspects of the facility. Everyone got to wear a hard hat and orange vest, and then we went to see how our blue bins are turned into reuseables. Cole tried his hand at sorting the recyclables from the conveyor belt. It is not as easy as it looks, but he did a great job! The bales of cardboard and aluminum were especially neat to see, as well as learning that the glass is available to Santa Fe residents for free (if you pick it up), and is great for landscaping!
